Our Story

A legacy of health, love, and tradition

The Family Behind Desi Chakki

Desi Chakki was founded by Jaswinder Singh Wraich and Tarlochan Kaur — a couple whose deep love for their community and Punjabi heritage inspired them to create something truly special. They believed that the food we eat should be our medicine, and set out to bring the tradition of stone-milled, preservative-free flour to the South Asian diaspora in Canada.

Our Mission

"Let the food you eat be the medicine you take."

This simple yet profound philosophy guides everything we do at Desi Chakki. Every grain we select, every batch we mill, and every customer we serve is part of our mission to make healthy, traditional food accessible to families across the Greater Toronto Area.

Honoring a Legacy

In October 2021, Jaswinder Singh Wraich passed away, but his vision and passion live on through Desi Chakki. Tarlochan Kaur and the family continue to uphold the standards he set — ensuring every bag of flour that leaves the store meets the highest quality. His belief that nature provides everything we need for good health continues to inspire us every day.

Our Milling Process

At Desi Chakki, we use traditional stone-milling techniques combined with modern food safety standards. Our flour is ground fresh per order, ensuring maximum freshness and nutritional value. We source the finest millets and grains, and our proprietary blend of 18+ ingredients has been carefully developed to provide optimal nutrition and taste.

Serving Our Community

Located in the heart of Mississauga at The Great Punjab Business Centre, Desi Chakki is more than a store — it's a community gathering place. Our customers are our family, and we take pride in helping each person find the right products for their health needs.
